Restoration Hardware Vase Hack Using Dixie Belle Paint.
I love a good decor hack, it’s a great way to add trends into your home without the expense. These gorgeous, aged Restoration Hardware vases are on trend, packed with texture and are a great way to display seasonal greenery or flowers.
I had a glass vase that I was planning on dropping off at the thrift store that was the perfect size and shape for my decor hack. Here are the steps and materials you need to try out this decor hack on your next project!
Materials
wax paper
shop rags
Step One
First, I cleaned the vase with White Lightening to remove any grease or residue.
Step Two
Since the surface was glass and very slick, I applied a coat of Slick Stick over the whole surface and let it dry. After 2 hours, I applied another coat of Slick Stick and let it sit overnight.
Step Three
I wanted a very rustic look and added a scoop of Sea Spray- a texture medium, on a piece of wax paper. Then I added Caviar into the Sea Spray and mixed it until it had a crunchy peanut butter consistency. I painted the mixture on the vase, applying it in a cross hatch pattern (applying the paint in a X pattern) to give lots of texture. I continued painting the vase until it was completely covered and left it to dry overnight.
Step Four
Once it was dry, I gave my Easy Peasy wax a good shake and sprayed a light mist over the whole vase. Using my Shop Rag, I spread the wax evenly over the entire vase.
Next, I dipped my brush into Dixie Dirt and applied it in a heavier application around the top, in the crevices and bottom, where it would age naturally. I blended the dirt in a circular motion moving into the center of the jar. By adding the wax first, it ensures the dirt will adhere to the vase.
I love how my vase turned out, this hack was so easy to do and only took 4 steps! Dixie Belle Dirt in Earth is the perfect colour to give the vase that warm, aged effect. Now make sure to find a great spot in your home to showcase your work of art. Happy painting!
