Create A Rustic Pottery Barn Inspired Vase With Dixie Belle Paint.
Neutral tones and organic elements in design are always on trend. I was so inspired by the warm tones and texture of these Pottery Barn vases and wanted to replicate the look.

Did you know that a simple glass vase can be transformed into a well worn aged patina with Dixie Belle Paint? Here is how you can do it.
Materials
Vase
Dixie Belle Paint in Dropcloth, Putty, Pine Cone, Sawmill Gravy, Spanish Moss and Coffee Bean
Wax paper or a paper plate
3 or 4 paint brushes
Step 1
Clean your vase to remove any dirt or residue with White Lightning. Wipe down with clean water and let it dry.
Step 2
Apply a thin coat of Slick Stick on the whole vase. After 2 hours apply another coat and let it dry overnight.
Step 3
Pour some Drop Cloth onto your wax paper or a paper plate. Add approximately ½ a scoop of Sea Spray and mix well. Mix thoroughly until the mixture has a brownie batter consistency.
Step 4
Use your brush to apply the paint mixture over the whole vase. Apply the paint in a crosshatch pattern, up and down, side to side to get more texture. I layered on more paint around the bottom and top of the vase for more texture. Let your paint dry overnight.
Step 5
Use your wax paper as a paint palette and pour all of your colours onto the paper. Using your Best Dang brush, gently dab it into Pine Cone and wipe off excess. Apply the paint in small circular motions around the top rim of the vase. I wanted to have more patina around the top and the bottom of the vase and layered more heavily on those areas. I then gradually faded the colour towards the middle of the vase. To keep my vase looking authentic, I occasionally use the Pottery Barn vases as my inspiration.
Step 6
I applied some of the mid tone colours such as Putty, Sawmill Gravy and a little Spanish Moss in the center of the vase. To keep the paint moving, I used my Continuous Spray Mister to blend it out with my Best Dang Brush. I continued to layer on colour until I was happy with the result.
Step 7
To add some depth I applied a small amount of Coffee Bean and dabbed it around the rim and the bottom of the vase. I dabbed a small amount of Drop Cloth in some areas to add some brightness.
Step 8
Once dry I used my La Petite brush to apply Best Dang Wax in Clear to add some softness. After 15 minutes I gave my vase a gentle buff to add some sheen.
I am so happy with how my vase turned out. For more of an impact, I transformed 2 more vases to create a grouping for display. This is a really fun DIY to layer colour and build texture. Make sure to find the perfect spot to showcase your gorgeous aged Pottery Barn inspired vase. Happy painting!
